Infi-tex: Etextiles, Wearables, Smart surfaces

Infitex is a high technology start up specialising in smart fabric pressure sensors, based in London and Israel. They own a number of patents and a produce a proprietary conductive ink that responds electrically when pressure is applied. The ink is durable, washable, non-toxic and can be applied to fabric.

Infitex fabric has many applications.  In sport, it can be used in insole sensors. In medicine, it can be used to monitor beds or incubators, in transport it can be used to monitor car seating and fabric interfaces.

Car seat occupancy sensing

The pressure map generated from a car seat can be used for occupancy sensing, identification, alertness and airbag management.

Insole sensors

Smart insoles can be used for monitoring the balance of unstable patients as well as interactive gaming applications.

Industrial screen printing

Sensors are produced by precision screen printing a combination of specialist conductive and non-conductive inks

E-textiles

The printed sensors can be used in combination with other e-textiles such as fabric knitted with conductive thread.

Interconnection

Interconnection between conductive fabric and tradition electronic connectors is a particular challenge for e-textiles. A number of different methods were developed, tested and verified.

Drive electronics

The pressure sensors require custom electronics to switch across the sensor array and condition the signal that is returned. It is also necessary to filter out interference from adjacent signals.
